ERIK CREW, Communications Manager
Erik received his B.A. in African-American Studies, with distinction, from Yale University. Before joining OJPC, he gained experience from his work as an educator in Chicago Public Schools, a food justice advocate in West Oakland, a bookstore manager, and a regional director for a Hamilton County, Ohio 2008 early voting campaign. Erik spent his first four years at OJPC as the lead investigator and litigation support for OJPC’s Human Rights in Prison Project. Erik now serves OJPC and its clients as Communications Manager, combining storytelling and advocacy across a variety of mediums. His freelance writing has appeared in Crash Course Literature, Abservd Magazine, The Hummingbird Review, and in 2007 won the Nella Larsen Award for Black Atlantic Writing. Erik also attends part-time night school at Northern Kentucky University’s Chase College of Law as a Salmon P. Chase Merit Scholar.
