August 31, 2015 – OJPC contributed to the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio’s report, “The State of Black Cincinnati 2015: Two Cities.” The 164 page report surveys social forces in nearly every sector of life that creates “two cities” in Cincinnati—one black, one white. OJPC’s section on criminal justice explores the challenges the black community faces from a criminal justice system too often oriented against it. But, with the challenges also come opportunities. As David Singleton writes,
[T]he criminal justice system in the City of Cincinnati presents both challenges and opportunities. Now, is the time to face the challenges and seize the opportunities that are in front of us.
The full report is worth our full consideration, and the opportunities to create more justice and equality are worth our effort.
