AP & Ohio Public Radio: “Group Releases Recommendations for Criminal Justice Reform”

March 23, 2016 – There is a way forward to a criminal justice system that is fair, intelligent, and redemptive in Ohio. In collaboration with the ACLU of Ohio, OJPC released comprehensive recommendations for Ohio that safely and substantially reduce the size and racial disparity of the Ohio prison population.

As Stephen Johnson-Grove states, “Our current approach to criminal justice is costing the state in every sense of the word.” And just as importantly, Stephen made clear that “[t]here needs to be a conscious anti-racist goal in all of these reforms, and that can be done. There are many specific proposals both in our report and looking beyond that report.” Find the full report here, and see below for the Associated Press and Ohio Public Radio coverage.
